Speaking at Leisure

My neighbor, Florence Caruso, invited Marie Gilbert and I from the South Jersey Writers' Group to speak at the Maple Shade Leisure Club meeting in Maple Shade, New Jersey on March 6th.

The group totaled about forty people.  They listened kindly as Marie and I talked about writing, our publishing credits and present projects.

Steampunk Granny, Marie Gilbert, took questions and comments from the audience.

As Florence adjourned her meeting, members bought copies of the South Jersey Writers' Group anthology, "Tall Tales and Short Stories from South Jersey" and copies of John Farquhar's book, "What To Expect When You're Dead."

A big 'thank you' to Florence and Maple Shade Leisure Club for welcoming and supporting us.

  2. I find it interesting that this lecture took place at a "leisure club." As we all know, there aren't a lot of things in life that require more hard-work, commitment and dedication than the craft of writing.
With that out of the way, I'd certainly like to thank Dawn and Marie for taking to time to share the fun of writing with others outside the South Jersey Writer's Group. As a local historian once told me, there's no greater gift one can give to family than writing down his/her story. We all have a great one to tell. I'm sure that through Dawn's and Marie's inspiration, many people who never gave any thought of writing will now start doing so.
A Jewish proverb reads, "If you change one person you change the world." Dawn and Marie's efforts are undoubtedly changing it for the better.
